Main tutor console
  • Interface has been re-designed to give it a fresh look and feel but maintaining its simplicity and clarity
  • New functionality (new watch, polling, administrative functions and violation monitoring functionality) added in tabbed windows which can be enabled or disabled by administrators.
  • Ability to customise the main toolbar and add policies directly to the toolbar
  • Clickable links to on-line help and knowledgebase articles when errors appear in status message window to help trouble-shooting
  • New enhanced look to the 'live' remote grid view window.
Watch features
  • New tabbed watch window viewing sizeable client thumbnails, with option to set refresh intervals
  • Greatly reduced bandwidth when watching large numbers of remote screens.
  • Create multiple Thumbnail tab views to setup different groups of machines to watch
  • Ability to cycle through thumbnails when more images are displayed then can fit in the window
  • Right-click on thumbnails to send commands
Question Polling
  • Ability to create, distribute and score simple one-question polls in real time. (Enhancements to this functionality are planned for a later version of AB Tutor Control)
Keyword Violations
  • Ability to monitor remote machines for keywords typed into applications or copied/pasted via the clipboard
  • New tabbed window showing the violations that have occurred during the current Tutor session, detailing the computer, user and context of the violation.
  • Screen snapshots (or optional screen recording) to be taken upon use of banned keyword. These screen shots can be viewed by selecting the violation in the list or via the 'Log File Viewer'
Enhanced Administrative Tools (Only available to users who login to AB Tutor with Administrative rights)
  • More sophisticated inventory tool to gather information on System, Motherboard, Disk Drives, Monitor/Video Adaptor, Sound Card, Network Adaptor, Printers, Installed Software. Multiple inventories can be gathered by selecting the remote machines in the main view and pressing the 'Refresh' button. All previous inventory files are kept and can recalled via the 'History' drop-down list.
  • Ability to view processes running on a remote machine, and to kill selected processes if desired. This only works on a one-to-one basis.
  • Ability to view services running on remote a machine, and to start/stop them. This only works on a one-to-one basis.
  • Command prompt window with ability to execute one or more dos based commands on selected remote computers.
Policies
  • Temporary policies have been replaced with timed policies so it is possible to time to the nearest minute how long a policy should run. This is to prevent temporary policies from being removed if a user logs off then logs on again or a disruption in the network occurs (say a kid unplugs the network cable)
  • Ability to assign policies to toolbar buttons. This gives you single click setting of policies.
  • New: screen recording policy that allows the recording of a remote screen for a specified number of minutes. You can set the capture quality, frame rate and audio.
  • New: Block USB/CD Rom drives.
  • New: Block Printing to local or networked printers
  • New: Keyword monitoring with ability to capture the screen when trigger words are typed or copied/pasted from the clipboard. All connected Tutor programs are notified of the violation and a count is shown in the status column.
  • New: Key logging. All keys pressed by a user can be logged.
  • Ability to apply policies to 'Classroom groups'. These get set to all machines the Tutor program connects to when that group is selected by a Tutor.
  • Policies can be re-applied to remote machines without the need to first remove them.
Group management Group management has been significantly enhanced:
  • Ability to import users/computers from Active Directory. You can also optionally set the computer's description in Active Directory to be the computer's 'Friendly' or alias name.
  • Ability to add users to groups, not just computers
  • Policies can be applied to groups
  • Additional restrictions have been added to enable/disable new version 6 functionality.
Tutor Screen Recording
  • Teachers can record their own screen for lesson record and playback purposes etc.
Log file Viewer
  • Any violation screen captures or snapshots can be viewed in a small thumbnail view or larger window if double-clicked. This also includes screen recordings.
  • Web sites visited are shown in the output windows and can be clicked to launch that page in your web browser.
Enhanced Security
  • Can no longer see registration code on computers
  • Option to disable stopping of remote AB Client service
  • Requirement to enter password to de-install client
